The Thing Progressives Don’t Know – Democrats Are Conservatives

Every time a Democratic president or Democrats in Congress fails to pass progressive legislation, progressives are told it’s all the Republicans’ fault. Obama, one of the most progressive presidents in the history of the United States, couldn’t get real progressive policies through Congress. The reason? The bad Republicans and their wicked deeds.

From 2000 to 2004, Democrats laid all of Bush’s bad deeds on Ralph Nader’s feet. They blamed Nader for Bush’s election. They blamed him for the Iraq war and all other Bush’s follies. The Democrats conveniently cut out the part when they all voted for the Iraq war along with the Republicans.

The Democrats would have progressives believe that if the Republicans were not in their way, they would be more progressive. Yet, when Democrats do have power, they kowtow to special interests. Obama failed to end the Iraq war and bring the troops him. He also deported millions and let the Wall Street thugs who brought the country to its knees get away scot-free.

Progressives are again falling for the same trap they always do – comparing Democrats to Republicans. Don’t be surprised if half your progressive friends get in line to vote for Biden in November.

How will this happen?

Your progressive friends will start believing Biden is a progressive who for years failed to get progressive policies passed because of Republicans. Biden would suddenly become a person who’d always been a closet progressive. In such a situation, progressives would feel they can trust Biden.

Except Biden is not a progressive. He’s never been one. One thing most progressives don’t know is that Democrats are actually conservative. Republicans are just nuts.

Democrats are Conservative. Republicans are Nuts

Progressives generally feel Democrats are the most progressive people in the world bogged down by crazy conservative Republicans. Watch Nancy Pelosi answer a question about income inequality in this video –

(Video belongs to CNBC)

In the interview you saw, Jim Kramer asked a surprisingly good question about the ‘two societies’ we see developing. Progressives have spoken about income inequality creating massive chasms in society for decades now. What is Pelosi’s answer to this question?

We have to think about small businesses and entrepreneurship.

What? Not that small businesses and entrepreneurship are bad, but what? Is this what Speaker Pelosi thinks about poverty in this country? Rather than speaking about raising the minimum wage, providing real healthcare solutions, and a solution to the student debt crisis, she instead gives a vague answer citing entrepreneurship and small businesses. How out of touch is Speaker Pelosi on an issue which drives at the heart of modern America?

Feel surprised? It is because you expect her to give an articulate response to the dangers of income inequality.

Why didn’t she do so? It’s simple. It’s because she doesn’t believe it. Deep down, Pelosi is a conservative just like her pals in the Democratic establishment.

What to Establishment Dems believe?

Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and all other establishment Democrats are not actually progressive. They never have been. Joe Biden said he’d veto Medicare for All if it ever reached his table as president.

These people are not really progressive. Establishment Democrats are classic conservatives. The only reason they generally look progressive is that they sit alongside Republicans who rage against gay marriage and rap music.

This election cycle, progressives will again see Democrats calling their nominee very progressive. Don’t fall for it. No establishment Dem is progressive. They can’t be. Real progressives have no place in the Democratic party. The disrespect shown to Nader and Sanders is an example of the same.
